casper, stop barking

i have been reading several books simultaneously as of late. I started with The Shining, by Stephen King, which was interesting about every other chapter, and never scary, which is saying a lot since I am easily frightened. I set that neon yellow paperback to rest, with half of Danny's face glaring at me in contempt for parting with him halfway. But I'm sure Tony will keep him company :)

Other books . . .

I've been reading "Pilgrim at Tinker Creek" by Annie Dillard. I love the imagery in this book. I liked the part where the snake sucks out the insides of a frog, deflating its body completley so that all that is left is a leathery skin bag, which floats in the water.

I've also been reading The Thorn Birds by Colleen McCoullough. It's a little hard to get into, just because its a lot of story, but it takes place in New Zealand, so when i read it (in my head) with a Kiwi accent, it's actually enjoyable.

I also just bought a book entitled "The 3 a.m. epiphany". It's a series of creative writing exercises written by some guy who teaches creative writing at the only university that offers a phd. in creative writing....i think. i really just abused the term creative writing. creative writing. creative. writing.

i've been writing a lot more music lately, but mostly on guitar since I would like to have as many original songs written on guitar as i do on the piano. i am, of course, a little more limited, seeing as I only know so many chords and tunings. but i am slowly learning the ropes of this incredibly common but uncommonly incredible instrument :) (that was deep)

casper is barking at something in the backyard and i think my eyes are crossing involuntarily due to lack of sleep (my fault). this all means that you have reached the end of the post.

well, now you have.
