Tonight, I was able to visit with my grandparents - two of the most influential people in the entire course of my earthly existence. My grandpa, meek and mild, but a devoted and passionate minister, came up to me and said "I have a gift for you." He held out his hands and in them lay a small green booklet. He told me he wanted me to read it. As he walked away to go sit back down on the couch, I opened it to the front page and inside he had written "Dear Janelle. This booklet will be a blessing to you."
It was so small and it seemed so harmless, I didn't really think anything I read would have any power to stir me. But I read it anyways. After a page or two, I came across these words and was stopped in my tracks.
"How damaged we are or how far wrong we've gone doesn't make a difference to Him. Our vileness does not alter His character. He is eternal love - the same yesterday, today, forever. We are not what He wants us to be, but we are not unwanted. If we will have Him, He will be our Shepherd."
It's going to take me a few days to let that completely sink in (or perhaps longer), but already it seems like this world is already filling with more color than before.
