friends.

I had a fantastic weekend. It all began with Cow Appreciation Day, Friday night at the local Chick Fil-A. I performed some music from 7-8pm, although I admit I was quite distracted by how many people, old and young, were dressed up as cows.

That night, as I was about to go to sleep, I got a phone call around 12:30am. It was my friend Andrew, with a flat tire, in need of a wrench for his German car. He and his friend Mike had been stranded on the side of the freeway for the past 2 hours. So i found some wrenches in the garage and headed down the 15 freeway. My wrenches didn't fit, so we called Triple A. They arrived and attended to the problem, yet also to no avail. The spare tire purchased at Wal-Mart earlier that evening was too small. So they called a flatbed to tow Andrew's car to who knows where. Meanwhile Andrew, Mike and I sat underneath an overpass and listened to the deafening whooshes of the racing traffic. By the time the flatbed arrived, it was 2:30am, and my eyes were stinging. The Flatbed Man came round to take a look at the busted wheel. He asked if we had any tools, and we admitted we had many but none worked, and the spare tire didn't fit anyways. So Flatbed Man suggested we take a look in the trunk of the German car to see if their might be any additional tools. Reluctantly, Andrew tended to the disaster in his trunk, and underneath all the rubbish, discovered a compartment in the floor of the trunk. Curious, he lifted it. And there, seated cozily beneath, was a beautiful spare tire with a brand new set of tools, just waiting to be used. Laughter ensued. 2:45am. I was so tired, it was difficult to walk. So what did i do? I went to Wal-Mart. I wandered around with a ten-dollar-bill and ended up buying Jiffy Cornbread Mix, Twin Popsicles, Gummy Bears and a notepad. I don't even know why.

Spent the rest of the weekend with Kaitlyn. Went to Seal Beach, ordered a Pina Colada smoothie and it tasted like Bananas. It made me nauseous. Had dinner at Daphne's and ate the most incredible kabobs. The rice pilaf was fabulous. Rented The Valet, Into the Wild, and Once, before returning home. Watched Into the Wild, watched The Valet. ate Veggie Chips and a Skinny Cow Mini Fudge Pop. Mom-B (Mrs. Muirhead) made us ginormous chocolate chip cookies, and i wanted more. Couldn't fall asleep, so I went to the bathroom and found a brand new notebook. I wrote a page of my thoughts down, ripped it out of the notebook, folded it up and stuck it in my back pocket. Kept thinking about Alexander Supertramp. Finally fell asleep at 2:30.

Woke up at noon, and ate a bowl of strawberries. Watched the first half of Once, but Kaitlyn didn't really like it, so we watched My Big Fat Greek Wedding instead. Finished off a huge red tin of chocolate muffins with Kaitlyn and Michelle. Dad-B (Mr. Muirhead) made us phenomenal tacos and I will probably remember them for years to come. That's how tasty they were. We all had a big discussion about tofu and PETA and vegetarianism. I still ate the tacos.

Went to Rock Harbor tonight and for the first time in a long time, readily accepted the sermon, instead of coming in with all my defenses up, like Oscar De la Hoya. It was worth it.

p.s. the picture is of melissa and kaitlyn (sisters) and me at my 16th birthday "costume" party. i was a cat and they were nerds.
