so i attempted to learn a few "survival phrases" in French tonight using some website that pronounces each phrase for you, in hopes to jumpstart my journey towards becoming linguistically frenchified. alas, i did not fare as well as i had previously assumed, and now i am fully aware this might take quite a while. c'est la vie.
little delight of the day: i spontaneously baked a batch of Ghiradelli brownies (discovered a giant box of mix in the garage), generously sprinkled with powdered sugar, and then washed it all down with country peach passion tea. i should call these Norco Delights - kind of like Turkish Delights except not as gooey inside.
I am constantly reminded how powerful scents are in regards to my collective memory. i have these $1 air fresheners all over my room - Renuzit Apple & Cinnamon - and I used to have them in my dorm room all throughout my CBU experience. Oddly enough, these freshly silent friends of mine have been there through so many different emotional phases, and every time they donate a fruity whiff, a surge of complicated college emotions wells up inside me and i feel so student-y again. It's really strange but so much fun.
recently, at work, i discovered a monstrous pile of old piano music and each day i've been sight-reading through different pieces during my breaks and it's been so wonderfully refreshing - and it makes me want to play piano at Nordstrom.
